What's a PickleballChicks Dinking-Only Tournament?
"Welcome to the world of the dink! Our PickleballChicks™ Dinking-Only Tournament is a celebration of finesse, focus, and fun. No drives, no lobs — just smart, soft, kitchen play that brings out the best in every player. It’s where laughter meets strategy and the short game reigns supreme."
What’s a Dinking-Only Tournament?
If you’ve ever been told to “stay out of the kitchen” — this is your chance to totally ignore that advice. 😉
Our PickleballChicks™ Dinking-Only Tournament is all about control, patience, and finesse. It’s not about who hits the hardest — it’s about who can keep their cool, read the court, and deliver the most delicious dinks of the day.
These events are fun, social, and full of laughter, but they’re also sneaky-good workouts for your short game and strategy.
The Rules of the Dink
Same PickleballChicks™ vibe — players bring their A-game and their A-vibes so everyone has a fun, friendly, and fabulous time.
But this one’s different — it’s DINKS ONLY.
Here’s how it works:
- The only legal shot is a dink.
- To be “in,” the dink must land in the kitchen.
- If the dink lands on the kitchen line, it’s “in” (that’s the baseline tonight).
- If the dink lands past the kitchen, it’s out.
- If a dink is heading out (beyond the kitchen line) but a player or their paddle touches it, it’s considered live and still “in.”
🚫 No Speed-Ups, Please!
This is a slow, dinking-only game that’s controlled — not a body-bag battle.
Keep it soft, keep it strategic, keep it fun, and whatever you do, keep it in the kitchen!
The goal is finesse, not firepower.
🧡 Starting the Game & Serving Rules
- Start each game with the classic “1 or 2 behind your back” — winner picks side or serve.
- All four players start standing at the kitchen line.
- Serves are diagonal and friendly — no aces!
If your opponent can’t return the serve, you must reserve it — this time keeping it friendly so it’s returnable and puts the ball into play.
💬 Why We Love It
Dinking-only tournaments level the playing field and highlight the parts of pickleball that make it so addictive — touch, teamwork, and a good sense of humor.
They reward strategy over strength, connection over competition, and laughter over lobs.
If you’ve ever wanted to fine-tune your short game, test your patience, or just spend a few hours laughing with fabulous people — this is your tournament.
